Closing Concert: Gülsin Onay & Erkin Onay
The closing concert, featuring the world-renowned and highly respected State Artist Gülsin Onay alongside her son, violinist Erkin Onay, will take place at the Ancient Stone Quarry.
Gülsin Onay, a founding member of the Gümüşlük Music Festival and the festival’s artistic advisor for twenty-one years, also plays a pivotal role in the Gümüşlük Festival Academy. Through her masterclass lessons, she has shaped the educational and career journeys of numerous musicians of international stature. Onay’s illustrious international music career spans five continents and eighty countries, from Argentina to Japan. Her interpretations of Rachmaninoff have earned her high praise from music critics, and she is widely recognized as an exceptional performer of Chopin. Honored with the Polish State Award for her interpretations of Chopin, Onay has recorded over twenty albums and is celebrated worldwide for her expressive power and extensive repertoire.
Erkin Onay began his violin studies with his grandfather Joachim Reusch and continued his specialized training with Prof. Atilla Aydın at the Hanover University of Music from 1989 to 1994. While pursuing his violin education in Hanover, he gave recitals in Turkey, Germany, Greece, and France and participated in Young Musicians Festivals. With numerous performances both domestically and internationally, Erkin Onay has played as a soloist with orchestras conducted by prominent conductors, including the Presidential Symphony Orchestra. He has given various recitals and chamber music concerts across different countries. Since 2007, he has served as the concertmaster of the Ankara State Opera and Ballet Orchestra. In addition to his concert at the festival, Erkin Onay will also teach at the Gümüşlük Festival Academy’s Violin Masterclass.
